Still say try a leakdown test!!!
Plus i know you say it is deffo oil,but if that pot is not firing the mixture it will be blown into the exhaust,have had this happen to me, see if this residue ignites with a blowlamp(carefully) good luck...

Problem with oil pouring out of exhaust port

This is VERY strange.
Things I would check are:
That you are lining up (off setting) the rings correctly and you are sure you are putting the oil rings in correctly.
Are you using the same pistons and is there any damage to the ring seats so the rings are being pinched and so not moving freely?
Check that none of the rings are broken or chipped.
