Painting Z1R Head & Barrels

#1 PostAuthor: Garn 1 » Fri Jun 26, 2015 2:45 am

Quick question regarding Z1R originality...
Are barrels and head black with the edge of fins linished... like the Z1.
I can't seem to tell viewing pictures!

As far as I can remember the Barrel Fins were all black and the Head had the edges of the fins cleaned off. It looked like a file had been taken to them.

Long time ago though

If it's like the MkII then it was just the edges of the head fins, easiest way is to paint the bloody lot then get a flapper disc on a drill and run around the edges, 2 second job and comes up a treat. Think there might be some close ups of my MkII that Ive done. If not will take some.

Earliest pics I can find (on D1) are similar to comments above.
Just lightly showing metal at edge of the fins - not like the shiny finish you see on some early Z1's

The first bike in this clip looks about right!

Hope this helps
