Clutch Nut - Shaft Drive Engine

#1 PostAuthor: LTD Project » Sun Mar 29, 2015 4:11 pm

Okay, so the manual says put engine in low gear and stand on the rear brake.
Fine if the engine is in the bike but mine is on the work bench.

Any ideas of getting the clutch off without splitting the cases and putting the whole clutch shaft in a vice?

Anyone been here before?

Try a rattle gun, with the appropriate 28-30mm socket. They are usually very tight.

Please note, you may not be able to achieve much as the clutch housing will still not be able to be removed from the engine. Some engines undergo a mod to allow for this removal procedure. It requires extensive milling of both halves of the engine cases. My opinion is, you will have to split the cases.

why are you removing the complete clutch? if you are only checking/replacing the plates there is no need to undo the centre nut

Sacrificial engine, want some clutch parts, ST uses same clutch as GPZ....

Any way air hammer ratchet thing did the job. so many times now I have forgotten that that little baby sits in the corner of the garage, care of Aldi.

Usually covered in so much junk: out of sight out of mind.

Its great when I remember it is there!

Thanks for quick suggestions, onwards to next job.

Cheers
