z1000st camchain help

#1 PostAuthor: Desperate Stan » Sun Mar 01, 2015 12:08 pm

Have ended up taking the head off my st to have some work done on it,thought the camchain was ok but theres grooves worn in the back end of head, its possible the head is not the original one and the damage is old but anyways is it possible to measure the chain without removing it from the crank case's and check if it's within service limits my manual dosnt seem to have any info? cheers Stan.

20 links pin to pin with 5kg tension applied should measure 155.48-155.71
the service limit is 157.8mm

Thats from the kawasaki manual.
