Fork Cover

#1 PostAuthor: nicomkii » Tue Jan 20, 2015 6:06 am

When I got the MkII it had those cheap aftermarket Fork Ears for the Headlight on it. Attempting to bring it back to standard and somwhere along the line I picked up some repro Fprk Covers ( Part No. 44064-025)
Went to slip them on last night and oops too tight. Obviously not of the original pattern but what I need so I don't butcher these ones is the original measurement.
What I have now is -
Rough measuring

Around 110mm

They even look wrong, never took them out of the box they went straight into the cupboard

Internal appears right.

So just need to know how much to trim from the inside part so not as obvious. Going to be fun trimming them !!!

Hi Nicomkii, it could be tricky triming out the inner edge and it could end up very sharp, what about cutting small verticle slits in the inner edge . This might make it less rigid and give it a spring loaded effect when sliding onto the leg, :|

And the difference is :?:
They were sold to me as MkII but they may possibly be the later A4. No point butchering them if they are, best I just keep an eye out for A3 ones :)

no 20-1 in the parts diagram diagram is what is listed for the a4 but it looks like it just sits under the headlamp ear & is not as deep as the one you have

Z1 Z1A/B covers are different to Z900A /Z1000

the later covers do not have as much metall like the Z1 covers. (sorry, cannot explain correct in english) since the top yolk with it´s bolts is different.

the later MKII A4 does not have covers any more, just a ring plus the plastic cover at the front covering the brake splitter
