It was a repaint at some stage ( before I got it ) but It was full of filler, and had a liner in, that was peeling off. I found out one day when I got it our of the garage, and looking good in the sun, then noticed a lump on the tank, it was a large blister, so I drained the tank ( 3/4 full ) then burst the blister was petrol..
I might turn it in the a lamp base, with a shade?
I got my hands on another A4 tank ( in the same colour ) and will get round to painting it soon.. So here's a big heads up shout to everyone.. If your looking for a petrol tank..the Original paint is best, what you see is what you get, I don't like tank liners, as they hide problems, to jump out at you when you least expect to, and bite you in the balls.... And the world keeps turning........
