Shit you have quite nice quiver of bikes there! The Kat looks awesome.

All these big bore bikes and large carbs are making me feel inadequate with my standard 900 and 29's...

I had kind of settled on the CR29's before i started this post, but just wanted to check before i made the purchase.

I was also going to purchase a Yoshi MJN kit for them.
Is this a worthwhile upgrade for the CR's??

So are the carbs from a GSXR usually called flat slides?
I have a set of these that are bored out to 31mm, originally from a GSXR750 and then fitted and re-jetted to a Z1000.

They got the name from the fact that the carbs have 'flat sides'...instead of the normal cylindrical shape.

Don't be fooled by the CV versions which often get palmed off as 'slabbies'.

Hi Gary,

They are defiantly from a GSXR, have used J carb rubbers on the Z1000 head, just need decent clamps. Look good, not as good as CR but they'll do for the time being!

I ran a a set of Keihin CR35's on my old Moto-Martin, the motor ran 1135cc with a Phil Manzano head fitted with o/s valves and .425 Kent cams.
It was slightly over fueled but the acceleration was phenomenal.

carb size

#26 PostAuthor: buzzard » Wed Dec 17, 2014 3:38 pm

Standard Z900 lump, wouldn't go larger than 29mm, anything else is a waste of money. Didn't one of the Z1R models have 28mm carbs with accelerator pumps?? Buzzard.
Every man should have a shed (for bikes obviously..)

Which size CR's

#27 PostAuthor: nick pearce » Wed Dec 24, 2014 11:20 pm

I've found 33mm CRS worked very well for the last 20 years on my gpz1170 with kent cams , gas flowed head, bigger valves etc, but now tried 37mm CR's which give abit more top end and midrange hasn't really changed. Experimenting with my old 33mm CR's on my Z1000J at the moment- pug colour about right but flat spot just before it goes on cam. Could go back to CV's on J but don't want to lose any power. Good luck with it mate.

What inlet rubbers do you use to fit CR37's to a GPz head?
