#1 PostAuthor: royboy » Tue Oct 07, 2014 8:32 pm

hi all
just wondering if anyone has had a bad dyna coil from new, just fitted
new dyna electronic ignition and coils, but only getting spark on 2/3 not on 1/4,changed wires round to check modules on electronic ignition all ok.
changed coils over now sparking 1/4 and not 2/3,have put insulating tape round spacer near wire inputs, getting power to coils no spark,so would you say bad coil.

test across coil terminals with a meter ....do you get the same measurement in ohms?

Yes, as MarkT says..
The primary windings should read 3 to 4 ohms across them, whereas, the secondary windings should read 13 to 14 kohms assuming they are the "green " variety.

Also, check that the secondary coil caps have good connectivity.
I found by pointing the coil spouts towards the top front, I had to use longer plug leads. I purchased some right angle adaptors to save some length of lead.
It does sound as so you have a defective coil, which Dyna will/ should replace.
