engine cleaning

#1 PostAuthor: 531johns » Wed Sep 17, 2014 7:32 pm

Hi Guys

I need to find someone in the Glos/Bristol area that can clean/aquablast the engine on my project Z1A.

the engine is not a standard Z1A unit but a 1977 Z1000 one that used to be black. someone has tried to clean off the black paint and made a right bog hole of it.

the bike runs well and I don't want to take the engine apart as it seems to be OK. can anyone advise as to the best course of action, to either just clean it by blasting with either water or what ever or to clean then repaint. Or just repaint??

can you also advise on the engine number as to the possible date of manufacture etc etc

it is KZT000RE018057

THANKS

Steve smethurst can clean them while complete. He blanks off the ex/in holes etc and then pumps air in through the oil filler so keeping the inside under presure. Ive not had mine done yet but am thinking of getting the z1b done this winter. Mine runs very nicely so dont want to strip it. I still feel this is a better way to do it than strip it down. If its sealed no cleaning compound can get into the oilways etc.
