VM 28 or VM 29s

#1 PostAuthor: Lee McEvoy » Mon Aug 18, 2014 8:56 pm

Is there a way of telling the difference (without measuring the insides) between the 28s and 29s?

Thanks :D

Easy difference is the top cover - the 29's have a "keyhole" shaped top
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

GOD I AM SLOW AT THIS !!
Lee,
One of the signs of 29mm Smoothbores is if you look on the R/H side on the body just above the float bowl- you will see a small square recess in the body casting.

I thought the 29's have a hex nut on the float bowl to get to the main jet instead of a drain screw

Gs1000 used either 26mm or 28mm slides depending on model before going to CV's.
The 998cc homologation Katana used 32mm smoothbores (the 1100 used CV's)

There were some Katana carbs that had oval throats.

Yes! They are oval at the venturi.
