starter probs

#1 PostAuthor: sme » Thu Jul 24, 2014 3:43 pm

found there was problems turning the engine over,
not spinning quickly and smoothly,
took left casing off,

what size is the bolt fits to take off the starter clutch rotor on
gpz1100 84.

just noticed inside the rotor magnets are cracked,
can they be fixed or need replacing?

how do i refit the rotor onto the crank again?

just fitted a new battery,
but the engine is still slow to turn over,
can see the starter motor moving slightly.

sounds like your starter needs sorting out,the cracked magnets sounds like a separate issue

took starter to bits,
found the connector that leads to the outside was broken,
brushes are good

what else needs checking on the starter motor?

or is there an upgrade that can replace this one?
