l/h set of points = 1+ 4 should have black wire. r/h points should have green wire = 2+3. l/h coil feeds 1+4 cylinders. lh ht lead from this coil goes to no1 cylinder r/h ht lead from this coil goes to no 4 cylinder. rh coil feeds no 2+3 cylinders the right hand ht lead from this coil goes to no 3 cylinder the l/h ht lead from this coil goes to no 2 cylinder

lh coil = 1+ 4 should have black + yellow with red trace wires connected

r/h coil= 2+3 should have green + yellow with red trace wires connected

Z
All seems ok
I have slightly different colours

12v supply is yellow with red trace with twin connector orange cables going to L/H left coil and L/H right coil

White cables from R/H of left coil going to to black at points feeding 1 & 4 and R/H of right coil going to green at points feeding 2 & 3

So 12v live to left side of both coils and black to left coil and green to right.

Seems ok to me

you say in a previous post that when you put your hand over the inlet to the carbs your hand was wet with fuel so it must be sucking fuel into the cylinders. from what you have said the ignition /points & coils are wired & set correctly. are you sure the valve timing is 100% correct? photo's of the valve timing would help with photo's of the end of the camshafts looking from the right hand side as your sitting on the bike . also a photo of the timing advancer on top dead centre 1+4

Z I sent you pics this evening. Changed timing 180 degrees. Cam lobes facing in as you set up. I am right that if I turn the engine over from TDC 1 & 4 through 180 to TDC 1 & 4 the cam lobes face out again.

Anyway, checked valves again and ok. Put it all back together and same, spins over but not firing.

I know it's going to be something simple.

i have looked at your photo & the valve timing looks ok now & yes if you turn the engine 180% the cam lobes will be facing out but the timing mark on the advancer will be on 1&3 have you done anther compression test & what are the readings

Hi Z I will do another compression test.
I just checked again.
If you set TDC 1&4 with cam lobes facing in as you advised then turn crank until TDC 1&4 come round again the cam lobes face out!
