Hi All
Last two MOT's on the Z1B have mentioned front brake binding. I need the calliper complete overhaul inc sticker and repaint. Thing is should I just buy one of these new pattern ones or find someone to overhaul mine? Views appreciated on which way to go.

Strip the old one and check the bore of the calliper cylinder.
If it isn't pitted or scored a rebuild should be fine.
Ref. brakes sticking / binding this could be cos the o rings (2 on each calliper holder bolt) are missing, worn down etc. - that should be a simple fix.
Don't use heavy grease on the new o rings or they will soon start to stick again.
All the new calliper parts are available for a rebuild far as I know.

also depends on the rest of the bike, if its covered in after markets parts then another patterned part wont damage value, if its largely original then try to keep it that way. Even if you believe its a keeper we none of us know when we may need to sell.

I DONT CARE, IN OR OUT BUT IM ENJOYING THE DEBATE......................ARMSTRONG MT500. a pushbike, waves.....addict, no offence
