Carb holders

#1 PostAuthor: coldsummer » Thu May 29, 2014 6:50 pm

Evening all, I'm just about to refit the carbs to my 650 and I have a new set of holders. Is there any need to use gasket goo around the mating faces or not? I presume not as there is a small raised lip on the face but I wondered if it would be an extra precaution against any air leaks?

I do use a small amount of kawabond.
Probably not really required as you say, cause of the recess, but "Belt & Braces"

If re-using old rubbers i put a bead of black RTV around the inlet and lightly fit the rubbers.
Wait till the RTV cures overnight then fully tighten the rubbers and peel off the excess RTV.
If using new rubbers I do the above but fully tighten the rubbers on first fitment then just peel off the excess RTV once cured.
