DOHC

#1 PostAuthor: Wayne1960 » Sat Apr 26, 2014 11:58 pm

Do I need to paint the DOHC inserts in black on the 2 engine covers to be authentic?
Just purchased a 1976 UK Z900 A4 for renovation. Wish me luck.

Get yourself some black enamel paint and brush it in well. Just a thin coat will do as you came go over again after 24 hours.

Then stretch some cotton sheet over a wooden batten and soak with lighter fluid or brake cleaner. Not dripping wet.
Wipe this over the emblem and you will leave all the relieved parts black.

Thanks tlc. That's what I will do. But should I. I know it looks good but was it done like that originally or was it left plain and no black?

That's exactly how it was done originally.

As Chris says, or just paint the black part not worrying too much if you get paint on the letters as because they're raised a little polish on a flat pad will bring the paint off the lettering without touching the black bits...

My old Z1B I did the same on.....
