Cam assembly

#1 PostAuthor: Wayne1960 » Wed Mar 19, 2014 9:58 am

I am just about to clean up the parts for the cam chain assembly. i have ordered a new cam chain so i can get the bottom half finished this week. What other parts should i definitely replace while i have the engine in bits?
Thanks in advance.
Just purchased a 1976 UK Z900 A4 for renovation. Wish me luck.

All the "rubber/plastic" bits in the cam chain assembly - they go hard with time and nows the time to do it. That little guide are bolted in the barrels is also prone to breaking :?? Check all the other guide rollers to see if they're OK.
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

ok im going to have to do this a little at a time so hope you can all bear with me.

Cleaned up the idler assembly and all looks well.

The sprocket moves from side to side by 2mm.
The teeth all look in good shape.
The plastic spacers are hard but in good shape assuming the are plastic and not hardened rubber.
All the metal parts cleaned up nice.

Good to go yes / no?
