Selector drum

There are 6 small pins at the end of the selector drum 1 of which is very slightly bigger. Typically they all fell out! So my question is does it matter which hole the larger pin goes in!

Currently I have it to the left side of the small hole that is in line with the large hole through the drum.
Just purchased a 1976 UK Z900 A4 for renovation. Wish me luck.
