MK2 Front End

#1 PostAuthor: LTD Project » Mon Mar 03, 2014 6:30 pm

Just out of interest, would a XJR 1200 front end go straight on a Mk2 or would it require considerable fettling?

Anyone done this?

Don't think it would be any more of a problem than any other swap.

Only thing to consider is if the fork length is significantly shorter and the length of the yoke spindle( is that the right name?). DoH!...Stem!!!

Oddly I don't have any info on the XJR...except that the S/arms are really nice but need reducing to make them fit.

Have a look here;

If you can't find alternative bearings then ony way of doing it, is fitting a Zed stem into the XJR yokes.

I used a complete ZR750 Zephyr front end in my ELR, which went straight in no problems at all.
Also managed to get the ZR back wheel into my Metmachex arm.
Still looks period(ish) but vast improvement over the original set-up.

Think you meant to say ZR550 Zephyr.

Those Moriwaki forks are just the look but what yokes to set them off right? :lol:

I think my aims may be a bit more humble! Ho hum.
