Engine Parts interchangeable?

#1 PostAuthor: LTD Project » Fri Jan 17, 2014 9:10 am

Can I use an ST 1000 Cylinder head on a Mk 2 engine?

Can a ST 1000 crank be used in a Mk 2 engine?

Though they might fit is there anything to look out for?

I think I have read on other threads here that the ST is basically a MkII with a different drive, so all of those parts are identical. Better wait for someone with some real knowledge before torquing up though. ;)

Yes! ST and MK2 engines are basically the same apart from the shaft drive bits.
All heads from all kick start models are interchangeable.
MK2 and ST cranks are the big pin 16t type so are a straight swop between each other.

Thanks, that is great news.

It was what I hoped but thought I would check.

Appreciate your help. I will press ahead with the splicing of the two engines.

Not 100% sure but I think the ST crank is slightly heavier....but still interchangable
