Wrong frame number compared to v5c (may be useful to someone

#1 PostAuthor: lude » Thu Jun 20, 2013 12:11 pm

Just been looking throuigh my old MOts and docs supplied with the bike before getting new v5c from DVLA.

frame number changes on Mot from

JKAKZBB17BAxxxxxx
to
JKAKZBB14BAxxxxxx
(my poor old eyes cant tell on the fram as not stripped the paint off yet...)
xxxxx are the same
JKAKZBB17BAxxxxxx matches Kawa vin check and DVLA check.

did or does anyone have one beginning with
JKAKZBB14BAxxxxxx
?

Just checked the frame it really is
JKAKZBB14BAxxxxxx

Luckily I have the original pre reg MOT cert Jan 1997 with
JKAKZBB17BAxxxxxx
and
Dec 1997 MOT cert with
JKAKZBB14BAxxxxxx

Plus MOT's and other docs with JKAKZBB14BAxxxxxx as the frame number

Been on to DVLA explained to the nice man, fill in V62 he said, send covering letter and copies of docs you should get a new v5c with correct frame reg, but they want may to get it inspected... So its needs to be up together before applying for said v5c. I'll probably get it MOT'd as well to make things easier.

I'd just file off the '4' and stamp on a '7' to match the V5.
No need to give the "nice man" at the dvla chance to f*ck things up even more if you can help it

My old thou had different frame number on the docs to the frame itself, I informed the dvla and a few days later I had a letter telling me to take it to the police inspecting pound it was inspected and found to be ok, (long day that was) transpired there were two bikes with the same registration same model different colours.
