Hello again, my Z 1000 ST engine rebuild prognosis is now replacement of :
complete cam chain , guide and tensioner system
new valves
new piston rings.
initial quotes coming in at £1250
Where would you advise is best to go for these parts, Z -power [ do Z1OC members get a discount?] or somewhere else.
want to save cash if I can but not scrimp on cack parts, also have read various reports on using the standard "auto" tensioner against an aftermarket part or one made by a member here.
What say you ? any and all help appreciated ,!

Cam chain system replacement parts
Z1000 ST x 3 , Moto Guzzi G5 special ,V11 special.
A Tsubaki (camellia) HD cam chain , liska cam sprockets and stainless valves will be much cheaper and better than the OEM kawaski parts.
Go to Joe Hooper at pitstop performance for these.
He's in the US but has a shop on ebay.
The stuff will be cheaper from there than buying over here even with shipping and customs.
He may be able to supply the rings but mostly does MTC and Wiseco stuff so Z1enterprises may be a better bet for those.
APE etc manual tensioners are good as long as you know how to adjust them correctly but the std kawa ones can be modified.
Some of the Kawa tensioners are not fully auto and have a locking nut and bolt and these don't usually back off.
