'O' Ring Chain on an early Z1A

#1 PostAuthor: DogsbolloxofZ1B » Sat Jun 08, 2013 8:12 pm

Just fitted a NOS 'O' ring chain to a Z1A and when tensioned correctly and spin the wheel by hand I can hear it clattering the heads of the caphead screws on the primary casing (behind front sprocket).
I seem to be having a senior moment :D The NOS front sprocket has a small land protrusion on one side and at the moment thats facing away from the rear casing and seems to fit correctly with a decent amount of thread protruding for the tab washer & nut. If I turn it around and give increased clearance for chain the amount of thread protruding doesn't seem enough.
I don't believe fitting the rear sprocket spacer 92026-108 is going to help matters either.
Anyone else had this problem? How did you resolve?

Mike

Dogs', I've found this situation when I use the available larger lock nut. When I reverted back to the standard nut and tab washer I can just fit the spacer in.
Note that, the protruding land goes to the back of the front sprocket, giving clearance.

Mike
The protrusion definately faces towards the transmission cover.
Rear spacer to be fitted with o-ring chain.
Cap head screws instead of original crosshead screws, are they standing too proud?
Whats the part number on NOS front sprocket?
I have NOS Z1B sprocket if you need it.
Regards
Steve

Garn & Steve,
Thanks for the info, confirms what I thought and I'll fit that spacer behind the rear too.

Steve,
I'll check the sprocket tomorrow eve and get back to you.

Mike
