Can anyone help?
I have changed out standard sleeves from Z1A, Z1B and Z900-A4 barrels.
I seem to recall there may be a slight difference, when I try to fit any of the above sleeves in Z1 barrels.
I think they should be interchangeable, there is just this doubt I have about the fit.

Hello, Ive swapped a few around in the past, you will probably need to have the top face of the barrells machined flat so the liners & deck are all at the same height. Its important to double check all the liners are sitting fully down as they dont have much interferance in the barrell, so if you had the face ground flat, then tightened the head down, the liner would move & there would be no clamping on the gasket around the top of the liner. Just a min to clean is all thats required. If of course youre lucky, you might find a set the right size, but ive always had to have them ground. I hope that all makes sense! Is it a standard engine? If not, you may need to consider piston to head clearance as well, depending on how much material is removed.
Cheers, Chris.

Chris, thanks for the reply. I was aware that after fitting the sleeves a slight "licking" of the head may be required to ensure flatness.
I did make a fatal mistake once, of leaving the sleeves protruding slightly to ensure the head will firmly hold the sleeve, however I forgot about the oil holes at each side of the head not having the same sealing pressure. The result was oil leaks both ends.
My main concern was thinking there was a change in dimension of the top of the sleeve and the recess in the barrels of the early Z1 heads.... Maybe I'm just dreaming!
