RWU Fork lengths
Having read in this august forum that a ZRX front end is an easy fit onto a Z1000J/GPz headstock I've been looking around and getting confused with the length of forks.
The ones I've currently got fitted are GPz1100B1 and are 38mm in diameter and 825 mm from axle centre to the top of the stanchion. I've checked with what I know are genuine original B1 forks so I know that's correct.
I saw some ZRX1100 legs on FleaBay and asked the seller to measure them. 43mm diameter as expected but only 665mm long. That's 160mm/10" shorter! That's never going to work.
Perhaps the EBay seller didn't measure them correctly (they were off the bike so not loaded)..
I also looked on the fork length table (link posted here recently) and the B1 is listed as 653 and the J at 644. The ZRX 1100 (actually says ZXR1100 97-2000) is shown as 610. I assume these are stanchion lengths which isn't a lot of help.
Am I missing something obvious here? Does anyone know the length from axle centre to top of stanchion for a ZRX1100/1200?

Thanks for that info. Looks like Mr EBay can't use a tape.
So 55mm shorter.... hmmmm.... that's going to change the steering geometry quite a bit. If you pulled the legs through the yokes by 55mm that would be quite drastic.
On the other hand, a J/GPz isn't the quickest steering thing ever made.
Decisions, decisions eh?
Any comments from those wot av done it? Did you use the standard ZRX yokes or use some special offset ones?

Hmmm.... ZZR1100 are 43mm. What length (axle centre to stanchion top) are they?

And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

160mm is only 6 & 5/16 inches, i measured my old chap in mm and am really happy that when converted to inches it came out at 14 & 1/2.

This is a list of fork dimensions and lengths but it's far from complete but maybe of use to someone...

Oh Arse

Anyway, in summary it looks like my best bet is to go for ZRX1100 or ZZR1100 and see how nervous the increased steering angle makes it.
