50mm USD radial Fork Question

#1 PostAuthor: Royalratch » Sat Mar 02, 2013 8:29 pm

I've got these forks from a 2006 Ninja ZX6R.

My callipers measure the clamp diameters at 50mm top and 52mm (52.12mm)at the bottom. Is this correct?

As I want to change them for a slightly different set from a 2011 GSXR but the seller says the bottom clamp diameter is 53mm.

Anyone shine a light?[/img]

Sounds about right...the bigger the bike, they like to make the forks thicker...for bragging right I guess.

I'm fitting a set of Superduke forks to mine and they measure 60mm

Damn.

So they do appear to change from by a few mm here and there.

I assume these forks are all made bu Showa for all the different Jap makers - why change the leg diameter? Some of the GSXR forsk are even 43mm at the clamp.

Aaarrgghh.

I originally found this on the oldskoolperformance site, although the chart I have posted is an updated version.

Thanks dude.

No confirmation on 05/06 ZX6R fork diameters tho.

Maybe my digital calipers are not accurate? Doubt that tho...

Hi Ratch, I thought you had it all sorted with those nice yokes, why do you want to change to the Suzuki forks? Jim
