CSR engine into a KZ1000 A1

#1 PostAuthor: stevie g » Fri Jan 25, 2013 12:50 pm

Hi All, new to the forum and this is my first cry for help. I own a KZ1000 with no engine, blew it up years ago and have been waiting for one to come along. I just bought a CSR1000 for the purpose of using the motor in my KZ. I've miss-laid the engine mounts so at the moment I'm talking to a breakers in the USA about which mounts I will need. Will I just buy a set for a KZ1000 A1 ? or does anyone know which mounts I should get ? I've seen several sets on ebay but none seem to have the long rear mount, The one that goes between the two smaller ones. Looks just like a bit of angle iron with places for 4 bolts. Hope I'm making sense to somebody. All help greatly appreciated, $tevie.

The mounting is different.......

The Z1000A1 frame has the same rear & front top mounts, but also has a lower mid point mounting's - for under each side of the older kickstart motor.

The CSR motor is like a "J" motor, so it has 2 x mountings at the front & one at the rear/top...... no lower mid points :!:

They can be made to fit with a bit of welding - not uncommon
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Didn't see this till it was too late, already bought them but no matter I have a welder myself so if I need to do a bit of cuttin n shuttin it won't be a prob.

Not sure whether the CSR has the J-style rubber mounts, but if it does, get rid of them and fit solid bungs, the rubber will be just like that (i.e. hard as a rock) but without a proper fit. Makes it easier to knock up plates as well.
There's no replacement for displacement!
