smoothboars
Can make out the difference between smoothboars carbs and not smoothboars?
Mikey, I take it you are trying to recognise a smoothbore carb against a standard carb.
I can only talk about Mikuni carbs 28mm, 29 and 26's and only relative to Z1 series and the Z900 and later Z1000's A1
The Z1 has a 28 mm set of Mikuni carbs, they are recognised by there 17 mm hex headed screw drain and the 2 screw flat top lid.
The later Z1A & Z1B had 28mm Mikuni carbs that looked the same as the Z1 except they did not have the 17 mm hex drain plug, but rather a round slotted screw angled for convenience on the bottom of the float bowl
The Z900-A4 and the Z1000 had 26 mm Mikuni carbs had the "high top" lid with three screws and a similar drain screw as the Z1A & Z1B.
Now the Mikuni 29 mm smoothbores are instantly recognised by the Hex screw drain plug and the "high tops" of the later carbs.
