Z1B Reproduction clocks

#1 PostAuthor: bigrocketrider » Mon Oct 29, 2012 9:00 pm

I am undecided on whether to have my present clocks refurbished or purchase some of the Z power repro clocks. All the repro stuff I have purchased so far has been pretty good but I am not sure on the clocks. Has anyone purchased a set or seen these in the flesh? Many thanks

The stuff that dave/phil sell at zpower is good stuff. probably better than the original stuff was when it was new.

Sorry my experience is different aftermarket clocks not as good as originals and some come as satin finish and others gloss I bought a tacho from z power was satin finish and then a speedo from ebay one was gloss also speedo trip reset wheel had a longer stem than standard modified cover with dremel to suit, also tacho wont fit original bracket you need to modify or purchase new style bracket, restore originals far better.

I don't know if what Z-Power sells is the same as we've seen, but I cannot recommend them. We sold a few of them, and the majority of them have failed. We have a back order with PMC in Japan for replacements ONCE they solve the problem.

I bought a repro tacho for a project where I wasn't fussed about originality, but wished I had restored instead. I needed to dremel the mount bracket to get it to fit, and also the needle was fatter than standard. Worked fine but just didn't look right

Cheers guys. Confused -yes. However, I don't want some crap that is going to last 5 mins so guess I will have to reconsider my options. Your opinions have been most welcome.

Mine are repro on my Z650 ( should have 140mph speedo but otherwise same as Z900). I actually ordered and bought mine from a local dealer - they are sourced from Hi-Level in Doncaster though.

I've had no bother at all with em, although you do need to modify the mounting bracket slightly as the "bulge" is larger on the back of the repro's than the originals....and of course it doesn't say ND either....mine are both a gloss black and match each other.

I have some OE clocks I have bought since but still choose to run with these as I see no reason to change em. The numbers are crisp, the redline is red, they work well ...

The repro clocks are cheap and nasty, speedo needles fluctuate, see one in bits compared to Kwak ones and you can see how cheaply they are made.......Nasty
