I am splitting a MK11 and this was fitted across the two coil mounts not sure what it is any ideas.

its a ballast resister for the headlight

Hmmmmm.....just to throw some more confusion on this im pretty certain it's for the headlight, Euro models came with them to dim the headlight but US spec bikes didn't have them.

But it's deffo a ballast resistor

After some further checking it turns out to be a ballast resister required for the ignition part number 28018-1018.

Never seen one before but you live and learn.
