Bled to death

#1 PostAuthor: d123456789p » Thu Jul 05, 2012 10:19 am

Just arriving back home from my Z1b MOT I noticed quite a few spots of oil on my boots, the bike was put on its side stand and proceeded to bleed to death, it looked to be coming from the gear selector area. Any common problems anyone has had and more importantly....any solutions?
Previous MOT resulted in a rerar tyre blow out half way home!!!
I do exactly what it says on the tin..............and its Dave if you must know

Most likely just an oil seal.
You got the choice of the pushrod seal ,gear selector shaft seal or gearbox output shaft seal of which all three are behind there.
Easy job and i'd do all three at the same time.
Seal sets are available fron Z Power and it won't break the bank.

Could also be the alternator wires grommet which is also a simple job but the oil usually runs down the alt case so should be easy to see if it's that.
