Pictures of debris removed from Z1000-A2 sump. Any ideas of what they are? 5p shown for scale only :D Pic 3 shows lots of metal particles in the sludge.

1. There's some bits of clutch plate.

2. Also one of those rubber dampers that sit at the ends of the camchain idler pivots

3. And what looks like bits of rubber 'O' ring , Maybe cam tunnel 'O' ring ?

fairly chewed up bits there.but it's not all bad

the 5p looks reusable though. some duffer must have dropped it in while filling up with oil.

( pardon the note of levity)

Spoke to my mate in the states (previous owner) and he said prior to his ownership it had had a catastrophic engine failure and been fixed hence 900 barrels on z1000 crankcases. He had never took the sump off so those bits could have been in there for years. Going to take the camshafts out so I can check the camchain guides, just in case. He told me it was a z1b head, I don't know but it's got a z1000 camchain idler fitted with bits of the damper rubbers missing - good grief
