I have a H**** xl500, these bikes have seperate rectifiers and regulators, the regulator has gone and are no longer available , so my choice is to buy a 2nd hand one off ebay
or a combined reg/rec as new, which is my preferred option , the question is the combined reg/rec has the connection block to fit on the exsisting loom, but what happens with the 2 wires from the loom that were connected into the regulator ?,

zed the best ride of your life ...... so far
Hi Bunnyz, reckon this must be the same as other reg/rect set ups,all you need to trace are the three ac outputs from the alternator, these will go into the 3 inputs on the comb reg rect (if its a three phase unit as on a Zed) usually 3 yellows, doesnt matter which one to which, the brown wire is usually the trigger, fed off the live side of the brake light which usually so it is energised with ignition on ,this brown wire on some units is ommited, the red and white feed into the battery positive, the black to the frame earth.
You should get approx 14.6 volts at 3k revs across the battery if working correctly, virtually any 3 phase job will do, wet dream and cx500 work well and are reliable..Cheers Paul j
