Z1 wiring harness tie points

#1 PostAuthor: DaveZ1 » Thu Feb 16, 2012 11:16 pm

Hello chaps,
After a lot of searching through many online pictures and books etc I cant seem to find the exact and correct places on the frame to tie the wiring harness with the plastic tie wraps. I have figured out the correct route the harness takes around the frame and have all new small, medium and large tie wraps but apart from the four small ones on the handlebars cant really find out for sure where the rest should go. If anyone has a nice original Z1/A/B some photos showing the tie points for the harness would be very much appreciated :D ZPower parts book shows 10 small wraps (4 of which for the handlebars) 5 medium and 5 large.
Thanks for any help, Cheers Dave

Same problem. You would think this would be a straight forward problem. Some where on this site are some photos of an original Z1 that will help if you can find them

DaveZ1A, I have never seen the full quoter of these ties on any bike. I seem to recall they mention 3 sizes in the Z1 parts book.
The closest I have been to finding their locations was at another forum.

It's under Technical- Chassis, Headed- [Z1B bands location and #]
There is a pretty comprehensive diag showing all positions.
Lets know if you cant get in, Ill try to copy.
Regardz.

Cheers Garn, found a good thread with lots of pics of band locations on that forum so that was a great pointer :up
Interesting to note that unless you have an oil cooler fitted all but one of the 5 large bands in the parts catalogue (ZPower) are actually used
Below is a diagram of what was put together from the guys Stateside:

It was agreed that the blue (medium) band to the left of the headstock is probably a large one.
Also there is sometimes a small one used to tidy up all the connections inside the headlight shell.

Dave - when I stripped my A4 six weeks ago I found that the loom had never been touched and the original bands were still on the frame. I took photos for an to memory and they are in exactly the positions shown on the diagram in this thread.

When I figure the photobucket thing I will post the pictures.

Bill N, I don't think anyone queries the items in Red above. It's the blue ones that are really the question now.

It will be great if you can post pictures of the items under tank and other Blue areas mentioned.
