It's for a z1000a2 with the plastic upper fluid reservoir-can they be anodised?

Karas in leigh can do the anodising.

The plastic reservoir should come apart from the master cylinder,it unscrews if yours has the round reservoir. If it is tight i have used an oil filter nylon strap wrench to remove it.

Agree with anodising but if you want a low cost alternative, I used Halfords semi gloss black spray paint, rub down with fine wet/dry paper, thoroughly degrease with thinners then apply 2-3 thin coats, not as durable as anodising but job done for £4 (don't get brake fluid on it). In true jap tradition didn't use primer and finish is spot on. Been on for 3 years now. Same applies to switches and even top yoke, have seen brake calipers done but the finish won't stand up to stones etc so powder coat /anodising better for calipers.

I used black satin alloy wheel paint, good job, cheap as chips, but likewise
DONT :( spill fluid on it :)

FWIW, PJ1 Satin Case Paint seems to resist DOT4 brake fluid.
