Any soft metal would probably do for bending the tabs over - you could try a length of copper pipe , hammer 1 end flat and then use a file so it's a sharp edge, like a chisel . Get this under the tab to get it started
Also good for cleaning gasket faces without damaging the alloy
Will need resharpening frequently , but that's the price you pay for using a soft metal against a harder one

Thanks Guys
Some good tips there I can use on other jobs as well as the tab washers.
The copper pipe tip has got me thinking about possible uses for some brass sheet and lead flashing I have got in the shed
Many thanks to GB for finding the anti scuff paste for sale..... at that price I think we ought to consider offering small dollops out in some kind of club scheme as there can't be many of us that would use it often enough to justify that outlay - much as we all love our zeds.
Cheers from Mark

You will be ok for supplies down your way - I hear cow pats have similar friction properties to that anti scuff paste
How is it in the shire this winter??
From Mark
Relatively warm but quite damp Mark! Plenty of slurry over the roads as well so not great for two wheels.
