swing arm bearing

swing arm bearing
is the sleeve on z900 a4 swing arm with bushes the same length/dimensions as the sleeve on a conversion to needle bearing kit and are the 2 washers with the kit to make up the "shoulder" bit on the bush?
Wayno, thats a critical question..
There a couple of types of after-market needle rollers for the Z1 series and Z900-A4.
One has a single roller each side and the other doubler needle rollers each side.
I have only used the double, what a great job they are and so easy to fit, rather then mucking about with a critical distance piece.
The original swing-arm has bronze or cast steel bearings with ground steel sleeves, running inside these bearings, whether they are the same length is not of consequence. The important part of that old system, is that, the sleeve must be locked in position by the distance piece and must not move, only the bronze bearing moves with the swing-arm.
With the needle roller bearing a ground steel hollow shaft is provided, with two thrust bearings at either end. These thin bearings take the place of the o-ring collars on the older system. I'm trying to add more, however, the post won't allow it.. RegardZ.

To finish off the above post...
The over-all dimensions of the kit is such that the hollow=ground shaft and the two end-bearings are the same length as the older system of:the two collars, the two sleeves and the distance piece. The needle roller bearings fit snugly where the bronze bushes fitted. The whole kit is , of course , held in position by the swing-arm pivot, which sandwiches the component s together.
After reconsidering...You could say that, the sleeves are slightly longer than the bushes to avoid confusion. As they must lock up against the collars, to secure the sleeves from turning and the swing-arm becoming the bearing surface.

Short answer is yes.
When you get frame back from powder coaters , you may have to remove powder-coating from the frame at the inside , where swing-arm goes.
Keep powder-coating away from swing-arm, internally, where needle roller bearings fit.
