1100r clutch issues !!!

hey guys,

is the center bush thingy replacable on a 1100r clutch basket ????

iv had all sorts of probs with mine ending with the cluctch basket breaking up whilst whizzing down the m40 a couple of weeks ago..........which was nice :shock: !!!

got the bike back home and with the clutch cover and sump off i managed to fish out all the bits, iv got a s/h replacement clutch basket but typically that one is also, for the want of a better word..... 'wobbly' once fully tightened up on its shaft and rattles about a fair bit at idle/ low revs inspite of have the carbs re-balanced,
fearful of having another one letting go iv let the tax an insurance run out untill i can get it sorted :(

help..... please :)

the collar is available separate. if you mean the brass bush which is pressed into the basket then no it is not available as a separate part

but a good machine shop should be able to help You out there

You can do a lot with the large black spring steel washers that limit lateral movement of the clutch basket if youre' very careful.

yes typically its the brass/bronze (??) bush thats allowing it to waggle about................ poxy shed :lol:

i'll see if i can find a local company willing to knock a new un up for me,

If you assemble the collar with the basket on it, one of the washers either side and a pair of large sockets in the vice you'll soon see what the culprit is.
You will get movement of the basket but if there is any end float of movement where the basket can move laterally along the collar then no amount of new bronze bushes will solve the noise / clatter issues.
I heard of someone who trapped each of the two spring steel washers in the vice in turn between a pair of the hardened steel collars and 'dressed' the edge very very carefully all the way round to once again have a silent clutch basket. Make sure if you do this that after assembly and torquing up, that there is no friction when turning the clutch centre hub within the basket or failure will soon follow. Thats what i heard anyway.
