Denso W24ES-U.
It seems that modern plugs aren't as reliable or as durable as they used to be.
Years back I changed from NGK to DENSO as the NGK's would fluff up and stop working very quickly.
The Denso plugs at the time seemed to be much better, but in recent years they seem to be as bad
The R in the plug code signifies resistor.

If have found no difference between NGK BR8ES and B8ES with my J, although have used type w/o resistor most. If your motor is tuned (mine is) then you could consider B9ES as higher heat rating.

I have also used Denso W27ESR-U (equiv to 9's) but had issues with them, which is quite common these days with modern fuel due to it leaving a semi conducting deposit near the electrodes which then tracks the current to earth when the plug is cold (harder plugs are more sensitive to this), NGK’s or Iridiums may be more forgiving.

thats what I've been finding,I've got b8es's fitted at the mo,but if I leave for a week or two it doesn't want to start.......took the plugs out,and it seems to be arcing on the insulation and not sparking across the electrodes.......and on some plugs not sparking at all..................I didn't know if it was because I had the wrong plugs fitted or some thing, you reckon its fuel residue.............whats the best plan to get that off the plugs...a bit of carb cleaner or some thing................I've tried cleaning em,but stil seem to arc

I've had the same set of Denso Iridiums in my black Z1000 for a couple of years now - no problems :!:

I run the cooler 24's.
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

I have had varied success getting problem plugs back to working reliably. I find that once they are operating they tend to keep doing so as long as you start the motor and run every 2-3 days. I would take out current set and instal brand new set of NGK or Denso....should fire up right away, run to get motor fully warmed up and then swap the old plugs back (having first cleaned them off with soft wire brush / dry cloth etc). That will tell you which ones are still defective. I would bin defectives and start with known good set.
I find that you can compound the issue if bike does not run for a few weeks as battery looses charge....especially with high comp engine which requires more amps to turn over. Net is that you can have a low turn over speed on starter / less electrical generation and smaller power to ignition. I keep bikes on trickle chargers and have charged car batt in garage for quick jump rather than discharge the bike battery if it is messing around.
