Tyre width/swingarm question

#1 PostAuthor: Holeshot » Mon Aug 01, 2011 7:31 pm

How wide can I go on a 17" rear tyre when put into a JMC deep brace swingarm on a Z1000A2 before a) It will rub on the swing arm and b) it needs offset sprockets or spacers?
I'll be using a spoked wheel so can build in a small amount of offset to avoid the tyre rubbing the chain.
I'm thinking of using a 4.25 rim with a 160/80 tyre but if anyone's got any other suggestions..........

Thanks guys :)

a) don't know
b) 160 will need an offset front sprocket, how much depends on rear sprocket carrier, a 5/8 offset will clear the tyre but check the shocks for clearance.

This question I asked before the "meltdown" however I cannot really remember the full answer.

However I was going to ask GUYZED at the SW Rally as on his z1000 he I think had a 160 tyre on the back. Also on his listing for his z650 rebuild he appears to have a larger rim all ready for that build.

Unfortunately I got talking to COLDSUMMER at the SW about the pros and cons of ultrasonic cleaners and was so pissed I could not talk to GUYZED.

I do not think that Jägermeister is the correct cleaning fluid to put in a ultrasonic cleaner :D
