Cam Lobe Pitting problems
I have a number of cam lobes on a Z1a showing a fair bit of pitting. If they are recoverable, any one know who might be able to remachine them?

I don't know what it would cost to sort those but I'd say your best bet would be to try and buy a used set it'd be a hell of a lot cheaper. I don't know much about the profiles and it's not something I've ever looked into so don't take this as gospel and I stand to be corrected, but I'd have thought any cams right through to the 1000A2 would have done.
Anyone....?

Hi Stevie
Many years ago I had the same problem with one of my bikes. But with no money. I refaced the lobes using a sharpenning stone, and some care and attention. To make sure I had not gone through the hardened surface took the cam to an engineering firm who did camshaft work and had the hardness checked. All was okay and the bike is still running fine. Some would say performance might be affected but to be honest unless you are going for out and out performance you would never know. You may be surprised at how quickly your pitting will disappear.

Now a proud owner of the camshafts from Holland. Bit of a hassle with the money exchange as the seller didn't have Paypal so I had to do a money transfer through the bank which cost £9 plus 25 euros for postage.
But chap was as good as his word and they arrived on Saturday.
Thanks for all the advice guys.
