For that ignition it should also run through a 1.5 ohm ballast resistor to 1.5 ohm coils. It will work fine if you put some 3 Ohm dynas on it, when/if you get it running check the ignitor box isn't getting hot if it is put a ballast resistor in the feed to the coils. Reg/rect looks to be swapped too - SH232 is a H**** number.

Oh it just gets better and better. Is there any upside to the MkII box? And has anyone got a dyna S kit they want to sell cheap?

I took the IC box off today to see about sorting all the connections out to find that it's been cut open and filled with silicone. Could this have been done whilst putting the ballast resistors in? Or is it just more likley to be due to the unit failing and being "repaired"? Cheers, Ben

Repaired! The ballast resistor doesn't go in there. The upside is that if a complete Neanderthal hasn't had it before they are quite good ignitions! SH232 is a common fitment, it's a H**** RR to replace the Kawasaki seperate items on the earlier models.

Yeah after gouging all the silicone out I've decided that it's "beyond salvage" and got a replacement ordered. I'll try and work out what goes where with the reg/rec and should be ok hopefully. This is becoming quite the pain in the arse  still there is sort of light at the end of the tunnel now. There can't be too much else that can have been bodged (touch wood).

Someone mentioned the "Wired By George" mod. I've done that to mine as I wasn't getting the full 12V to the coils - it worked well and was easy to do.
