6 Speed Box ???

The 6 speed conversion is dead simple. Buy a used Z/Gpz550 gearbox. and Fit.
The spline for the clutch centre sits about 2-3mm shorter that the 5 speed, but the shaft is long enough for the retaining nut to fit safely.
Get the complete input/output shaft, and shift drum/forks. Also the sprocket mounting is different. Floating sprocket- so it has a retainer
plate that bolts to the two holes often seen on engine sprockets instead of the locking nut and tab.
Also while you are here. The needle roller bearings can be upgraded to a larger size, as used on the GT750. 1mm larger OD. (27 vs 26mm)
The GT750 also used pushrod clutch actuation, so grab a GT bush 92028A for the pushrod seal/bearing outer. And a GPz/GT 92028B for the other.
The kick starter will be LOST, as the gear (4th) that works THAT is a different ratio. So no go. I investigated using z900/750/twin cyl.. kick start gears..no dice.
So grab a z750-e1/2 side cover with the blank kicker hole.
This refers to a 550 g/box going in a 650, but 750 is similar to this, so should be same. Found it on KZ650 site from states.
Here it is in full
