rear shocks

#1 PostAuthor: knut » Fri Dec 11, 2009 11:15 pm

hi,how easy is it to strip the standard shocks?
is a matter of drifting out the pin just underneath the top mounting?
the springs are looking a bit rusty and need to clean them up a bit.
thanks mick

Knut, briefly, you have to knock out that pin, compress the spring, and undo a large slim lock-nut under the shroud. Not easy without a compressing jig.

someone on here made a jig with two bits of wood with a hole drilled to fit over the shroud and 4 long bolts to wind the spring down. try putting up a jig question , it really was ingenious.
