diaphragm/non diaphragm fuel tap

#1 PostAuthor: mothra » Sat Dec 05, 2009 3:56 pm

Gents, quick question - I'm finally getting around to fitting my new, repainted tank on the z650 after the pinhole debacle, and I'm discovering that my fuel tap doesn't fit - the fuel filter is in slightly the wrong place to go in the hole on the tank cleanly. I think this means that the new tank is a B1 tanks (non diaphragm, no vacuum tube) and my old one (and tap) was later (diaphragm, vacuum).

Does this sound likely? at the moment I'm not sure I'm even spelling diaphragm right.

If so, can I swap out the fuel tap for a non diaphragm one, and do I have to do anythign to the carbs? I'm now wishing I'd checked all this out before having the tank painted....

Stu

not sure which tank/tap fits what on the 650 but if you fit a non diawotsit (no sure on spelling meself) , make sure you blank off the vacum takeoff on the head or inlet rubber which ever the tap is fed from . wont make any difference to the carbs what tap is fitted.

Thanks Floyd - that's actually really helpful. Any suggestions on what to use to blank it off?

Awesome, thanks Gents - didn't think that plug was the same size, but I can see how it goes on. GuyZed, you are a gent - I got back from a toyrun today and discovered he'd dropped one off for me... :-)
