Upgrading z1000r heads

#1 PostAuthor: Robw » Sun Nov 15, 2009 3:17 pm

I have got another head coming(cheers Jack) and I want to know what the general consensus is on modifying it. Do I go for big valves, is 1mm oversize worth it or bigger. Gas flow and twin plugs. Lumpy cams?
It already has a Wiseco 1170 pistons and 33mm Keihin carbs fitted, with a twin tap fuel tank in the pipe line.
I know it might cost abit, but I need to do some fiddling  in the garage during the long winter nights and my wife although is very understanding won't let me have another bike, so the money has to go some where.

Cheers Rob

+1 Raf knows his onions

Just get the bike running spot on - check clearances, valve timing, ignition, power feed to coils (assume you're running Dyna coils), carbs set up right - get her dyno'd - and that'll make a difference
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!
