LOL, I seem to remember having that prob. Just undo the filter cover, maybe a bit messier but gets the job done.

I had to use a big pair of stilsons to get the sump plug out!! Now it's always on stand by when I do my oil change!! Word of warning though.. because your generally laying down beside the zed make sure someone is standing by so you don't pull the wrench so hard that you pull bike on top of you

Be careful, I mean seriously be careful here.
Many moons ago I had a ZZR250, the sump bolt in that was stupidly tight, I was a bit baffled until I managed to free it to discover it'd been araldited in place due to stripped threads in a past oil change, (presumably)
In order to avoid an engine strip to drill and re-tap the thread I tried all manner of fixes including silicon sealant after tightening as much as I dared and PTFE tape, always had a drip regardless but never lost enough to stress over, still pissed me off as I didn't know until the first oil change.
If in any doubt whip off the filter cover and drain through there if the plug is oil tight, just make sure you have a large drain pan, (cheap turkey roast pans from Morrisons work just great) :)
