As the title says I am looking for a mid 70s Kawasaki to celebrate my 50th!
Must be a genuine bike in excellent condition and a good runner as I intend to use it pls.
Other than those obvious requirements I am not particularly set on any model / colour /year - just something that I like the look of.

Cash waiting for the right bike.

Thank you
Colin

Hi Colin,
welcome to the Z1 Owners Club.
There are some good bikes around, sometimes you have to be patient!
Many bikes sell on "word of mouth".
Keep looking in the For sale section.
If you need help/advice, let us know.

Thanks for the welcome Geoff,
you seem like a nice bunch on here (in the main :) )

Not too bothered about the absolute price really as long as the bike is the right one and fairly priced.
Recognising that may not be the exact question you are asking I suspect I am unlikely to get anything of the standard and honesty I am looking for for less than £3-4K for a Z650 and prob double that for a 900.
Sound about right?

Hopefully that is more helpful.

Cheers
Colin

Colin,
Good to have you join up!

There are plenty of bikes out there, especially at the moment theres a few on ebay currently, For the sort of money your talking I,d buy one and do it myself. But there are loads about.

650'S Are great I am doing mine up at the moment after buying it back last year, but they are hard to get bits for, as most are modded or just dead.
But 1000's and 9's are soooo much better.

My issue with the high end priced stuff is they are hard to shift if you need to and how do you know what's genuine or replica parts. Mind you post any pics here and you'll soon find out! :)

I am not a purist and just like the bikes to be right for riding! not showing! so go for something you like and is right, Someone here will have something! Good luck :D

Hi Colin and welcome along.

You don`t say where you are but there are people here with lots of knowledge.

If you`re gonna pay that much for a bike then you really are expecting a very good one indeed. It is easy to get fobbed off on fleabay so look before you bid.

If the bike is close to another member I am sure that they would offer to hold your hand as it were while you look at it.

Hello to all.
Yes I am looking for a very good one but not necessarily a purist one.
Not determined to have any nut, bolt, washer etc exactly as it was the day it left the factory!
I'm not a big fan of ebay for this sort of purchase to be honest. As you say there is a lot of crap, bodged and dodgy stuff out there - almost all of it described as VGC. I have been there, driven many miles and not even got out the car for some vehicles. It's a shame as there is no doubt many genuine bikes on ebay but I dont have the time or expert knowledge to hunt all over the country.
There is a nice looking Z1R up in Aberdeen but it's a long way to go - unless anyone knows the bike?

I hope some thing nice will come up on the forum but when I need advice / assistance I will certainly shout up. You have been warned.

Cheers
Colin.

You still don`t say where you are but Aberdeen is a long way for most people.

There is a member that wants to shift a 1R I think.

Also GPz1100, Z1c etc if you want something more unusual ?

think a top z650 wouldn't cost as much as 3-4 k , 1-1.5k at the most,
z1000 about 3k tops and z1/z900, anything from 2 - 10.000k
when the weather gets better people will start to sell
