No such thing as a decent GT500 twin Alan , it'll have to be a GS1000S

No. Don't agree I think they were ugly, with slab sided side panels, sofa seat and tail which sloped the wrong way . As far as visual aesthetics it had none , the gs 1000 was a design step back from the 750, then they made the gsx square headlamp thing. Hated them in 78 still don't like them, and my 76 jota would waste the 1000 gs after 125mph.

GS1000 in 1978 made the zeds look outdated but how time has changed things.

Would have to beg to differ folks, had one when I was a sprog, really liked it! Was well quick, on a par with 750s if they where two up! They have allways struck a chord with me since, plus the only bike I've ever had with reverse gear! :D

Never liked the GT, loved the performance of the gs thou's and 750s but the styling, not for me hated and still hate the looks.

funny that I always fancied the Jota but having spoken to several Jota Owners at Stafford Who were also Zed Owners they told Me the Jota might look good but that was all they were horrible to ride and not as fast as some claimed

Have a 1980 Jota, 1980 GS1000S and a 1975 Z1B. What do I ride the most? Jota. It would be my choice everytime. Second would be the GS1000S and the Z1B would be last. Sorry guys.

5 years is an age in bike technology, I can think of lots of 1985 bikes for Eg that have moved things on considerably from a 1980 Jota.

I had a 74B which was a truly fantastic bike, but my only 2 year newer Z thou makes it seem almost agricultural by comparison, it's just SOOoooo much nicer to ride in every way, yet I'm not going to apologise to everyone for saying this because as most of us know things move on, technology improves, bikes get bigger faster and better every year. IF they didn't we wouldn't have bought them in the first place would we?..

Lets all address the heffalump in the corner, the Z1000A is basically just superior to the earlier inferior 900 models!! :D

My Z1000a2 is much more superior to my Z1A. It rides and handles so much better. Against my brothers slightly tuned Z1B it leaves it behind from a standing start sprint and by quite a bit (yea even in my fifties we still do straight line sprints :D .
