But hoping for something better enginerred and more pleasent on the eyes like good ol Mr Geoffrey Parr has on his bike. It wont fit mine i know but its a nice peice of kit.
I`m too thick to work out how to insert a photo but Ralph Ferrand has a pic of the bike in his pictures from the last Lower Load meeting.[/img]

Oi. You dissing my Renntec?

It's actually a superb piece of kit which overcomes one of the problems of the J model. Namely that the subframe isn't really strong enough to bear all the weight on its own.
It bolts at the end of the subframe as well as the shock mounts.

I would recommend any rack you look at fixes at these same points to distribute the load as much as possible.

for what its worth, the same system snapped my rear frame where the rear rails are butt welded to the man frame. I welded some fish plates to it to give it strength

Rentec

#10 PostAuthor: Wardy » Wed Jul 02, 2014 11:08 am

Thanks TLC.

No wasn’t dissing and will have a look at the Rentec.

I wasn’t intending to carry side panniers, just a large single bag now and again so it might be a bit overkill for what i want. However if it’s the only thing going that won’t bugger my sub frame then that’s the way I must go.

Thanks All.
