I've asked the question, also one of the lads from the GPz900 forum is very friendly with them so I'll get him to go in and check.

All good, yet another forum member has come to the rescue.
There is also one in the US that is in good nick, tempted to buy it and send it to Joe for a refurb, sounds like a plan!

One of the lads from the GPz900 forum popped in to inspect the head.
He has said that it is in excellent condition, he thinks the cams are new or near new.
I visited D & K Motorcycles today and had a look at the cylinder head you are interested in.
It is off a Z1000C Police bike, so although it probably has done more miles than Apollo 14, it will have been serviced precisely when required and maintained regardless of expense.
There are no cracks between the spark plug holes and the valve seats, all the fins are intact, but I did not take a selection of screws and bolts to check if the threads are ok. Surprisingly, there are no wear marks at all on the cam lobes, so perhaps it has had some new cams recently.
It does need a good clean however, but I am sure that you have plans in place for that.
The two pics below are ones I took with my camera today, I have the high resolution versions if you want me to email them to you. PM me your email address if you want them.
So if anyone is interested in this it is a great buy, I'm sorted now.
